The Congress leader gave a 10-point answer just hours after a Delhi police team knocked on his door for the third time in five days. He also took eight to 10 days to give a detailed response to questions asked by the Delhi police in connection with his January 30 remarks, the sources said.

The police team, led by Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Sagar Prit Khuda, arrived at 12 Rahul Gandhi’s residence, Tughlak Lane around 10 a.m. and were able to meet with the Congress leader two hours later, officials said, adding that the group stayed around 13:00

According to the police, Gandhi stated in Srinagar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra that “I heard that women are still being sexually abused” and since the Yatra also passed through Delhi, they wanted to find out if any victim had approached the leader of the Congress. here so they can initiate an investigation into the matter.

“The police asked him to provide details about these victims to ensure their safety,” the official said.

Sending a preliminary reply shortly before 4 p.m., Gandhi called the police action “unprecedented” and asked if it was due to his position both inside and outside parliament on the Adani issue, the sources said.

According to them, Gandhi also asked how urgent the Delhi police made two visits in as many days after an initial break of 45 days after he delivered his speech in Srinagar.

The former head of Congress asked if any other political party, including the ruling party, had been subjected to such scrutiny or interrogation in connection with their political campaign, the sources said.

An angry Congress condemned the actions of the Delhi police and attacked the central government, calling it “the worst case of persecution and political revenge”, but the BJP dismissed the accusation and said that the police were “only doing their legitimate duty.”
