Islamabad: Pakistan reiterated its demand for a joint investigation into India’s accidental launch of a BrahMos supersonic missile that landed on its soil and demanded a “satisfactory response” from New Delhi to the incident, which took place a year ago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement marking the end of a year since the BrahMos rocket was launched from Suratgarh in Rajasthan and fell into Pakistan on March 9, 2022.
The services of three Indian Air Force officers were terminated in August last year after the Court of Inquiry (CoI) found that their deviation from standard operating procedures (SOP) resulted in an accidental missile launch.
“Despite a year has passed, the Government of India has not granted Pakistan’s request for a joint investigation to establish the facts related to this serious incident,” the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
“India also did not share the results of its internal investigation with Pakistan,” the report said.

“We also look forward to a satisfactory answer and clarification on a number of fundamental issues regarding security protocols and technical measures to protect against accidental or unauthorized missile launches in a nuclear environment,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the missile endangered people’s lives and property and posed a serious threat to regional and international peace, security and stability.
Also last year, Pakistan demanded that the Government of India provide specific answers to the questions raised by Islamabad after the incident and agreed to its call for a joint investigation.
