RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale

Samalha: India is already a “Hindu Rashtra” which is a “cultural concept” and does not need to be enshrined in the Constitution, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said on Tuesday.

Explaining his statement, he said that the nation and the state are two different things. While the nation is a “cultural concept”, the state is what is established by the Constitution.

“For the last 100 years, we’ve been talking about the Hindu Rashtra, that it’s a cultural concept, not a theoretical one,” he said when asked about it at a press conference here.

State and nation are different things. The state is what is established by the Constitution. This is state power,” he said.

“Nation is a cultural concept. Bharat is already a Hindu Rashtra. It does not need to be turned into a Hindu Rashtra,” he added.
